The Lakes Continues To Make A Big Splash
Shiver’s new 12-part series experiencing a Summer in the Lake District pulled in nearly 5m viewers for its first episode and has since averaged 4.3m viewers.
The Lakes, presented by Rory McGrath, made its debut at 8pm on Monday January 4th on ITV1 attracting an average of 4.8m viewers – that's 17pc of all available viewers and 3pc up on the slot average. Since then we have averaged 4.3m viewers and a 16pc share.
The opening episode introduced Windermere hotelier Thomas Noblett busy preparing for a Summer of charity swims, tea room owner Amanda Davies as she got the keys to her new business, and featured an Australian couple who took a romantic hot air balloon flight to remember over the South Lakes.
The Lakes is series produced by Nickie Lister and executive produced by Shiver’s Creative Director, Mark Robinson.
The series follows a number of characters who work in different industries – from hoteliers to farmers, tour guides to mountain rescue volunteers; very different jobs - but all live in this most beautiful part of Britain. We’ll see how the summer develops for all of them.
The Lakes saw one of its busiest Summers ever in the year of the ‘staycation destination’ - even the Prime Minister spent his family holiday in the Lake District.
The show was ordered by Diana Howie, commissioning editor, Factual and Daytime.
